A Geordie in Wales

A North Country maid up to Aber had strayed,
Although with her nature it did not agree...
She wept, and she sighed, and so bitterly she cried,
"How I wish once again in the North I could be!
"Oh, the oak and the ash, and the bonny ivy tree,
"They flourish at home in my own country.

"While sadly I roam I regret my dear home,
"Where lads and young lasses are drawing the dole,
"The coal mines are shut and the shipyards gone 'phut',
"Though it's great when young Shearer is scoring a goal...
"Oh, the crime and the drugs, and the great NUFC,
"They flourish at home in my own country.

"No doubt, did I please, I could go back with ease,
"For where t'North is concerned, my allegiance is strong,
"But for now I'm in Wales, in the sunshine and the gales,
"And it's time I was reaching the end of my song:
"Oh the sheep and the trains and the jolly daffodee,
"They flourish down here in my new country."

A boring list of details about me can be found here.
