• Born and bred in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, Northumbria, England, UK, Europe, The World
• Attended Longbenton Church of England Aided First School, Forest Hall Middle School and Dame Allan's Girls' School
• I was a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain for five years (1988-93)
• Spent three years acquiring a BA (Hons) in Mathematics at Jesus College, Oxford - during which time I was Secretary of the John Wesley Society
• Worked for a year at the library of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London
• Spent a year studying for an MScEcon in Information and Library Studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth - and writing a dissertation on "Cooperation between the libraries of Oxford University". While at Aberystwyth I attended St Paul's Methodist Church, was an infrequent attender at Methsoc and a more frequent attender at the Twenties Group, conducted the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers and was in the chorus for the Showtime Singers' production of The Mikado.
• For a year I was Classification Assistant at Radley College, Oxon.
• I spent twenty months as a cataloguer at the Bodleian Library, Oxford,
• three years nine months as a cataloguer at Oxford Brookes University Library,
• and sixteen months as a cataloguer at St Andrews University Library.
• I am currently enjoying being a full-time mother.

Interests

• Music
  • I currently sing with the Dundee Choral Union and play with the Dundee University Orchestra
  • Before we moved to Dundee I was conductor of the choir at Wesley Memorial Church, Oxford
  • (Now inactive) member of the Oxford University Gilbert and Sullivan Society - musical director of Princess Ida in Trinity Term 1998, and committee member 1998
  • I sometimes play the viola, piano and organ (not all at once)
  • I am keen on Flanders and Swann
• Railways
  • I am an assistant guard on the Talyllyn Railway
  • I used to be a volunteer buffet steward on the Ffestiniog Railway and wrote the first unofficial web pages for them - all that now remains is the ChuffingtonTours guide
  • I am keen on railways generally, especially preserved ones
• Writing Web pages
• Programming RISC OS computers
• Oh yes - and I'm an armchair supporter of Newcastle United (football club)
